How to Merge Campaigns

This process works by starting on one campaign, and then electing to merge it into a separate campaign. You will only enter into and interact with the Campaign that will be "hidden" at the end of this process.

To merge a campaign, first head to Fundraising Campaigns to locate the Campaign you wish to merge into another campaign. Click on the Edit box to the left of the Campaign name to enter the campaign, and then select the Merge Campaign tab along the top of the page, just below the Campaign title.

Select the new Target Campaign to merge into, and then click on the green Merge Campaigns button. Please note this action cannot be undone.

Why a Campaign Will Not Merge

There are a handful of reasons that a campaign will be unable to be merged. We will highlight some of these for you when you enter the Merge Campaign page.

If any of the following are true, you won't be able to merge campaigns.

  • Two campaigns that are both synchronized to a third party application cannot be merged. If you still want to perform this campaign merge, our recommendation is to manually reassign transactions, notes, and other activities to a different campaign, and then you can proceed with this process
  • Between the 2 Campaigns, there are more than 3 unique Custom Fields Names. If you still want to perform this campaign merge, our recommendation is to rename Custom Field(s) so that the system can merge
  • You're trying to merge a Campaign with a "TextArea" Type of Custom Field into a Target Campaign with a "Select" Type of Custom Field. If you still want to perform this campaign merge, our recommendation is to perform the merge in the other direction, making the other campaign the new primary one
  • You also cannot perform a merge with a campaign that has "child" campaigns associated with it
