Terminology
The terms "Campaign" and "Crowdfunding" refer to specific fundraising methods in Kindful.
Nonprofits commonly use the word "campaign" when referring to different kinds of fundraising efforts, including "peer-to-peer" fundraising. In Kindful, the peer-to-peer fundraising method is known as "Crowdfunding."
Kindful identifies a "Campaign" as a public way to organize your fundraising (e.g., Spring Gala Campaign or New Facility Campaign). You can think of this as a folder for your transactions. Campaigns are found on the "Campaigns" page in the "Fundraising" section.
In Kindful, the term "Crowdfunding" only refers to Kindful's peer-to-peer fundraising feature. Even though these and campaigns are two separate features within Kindful, they are still related (see below). Crowdfunding Campaigns are found on the "Crowdfunding" page in the "Fundraising" section.
How Crowdfunding functions
It's important to understand the foundational concepts and terms when using Crowdfunding.
| Crowdfunding Cause | A peer-to-peer fundraising page in Kindful. A Cause flows into a Campaign. |
| Campaign | An organized effort to raise money for a specific purpose. A Campaign is a specific project that flows into a Fund. |
| Fund | An internal classification system for categorizing donations and other monies coming into Kindful's database. Funds are general allocations made more specific through Campaigns. |
| Team | The actual pages that are shared to raise money within a Crowdfunding campaign. |
| Teams flow into Crowdfunding. Crowdfunding flows into Campaigns. Campaigns flow into Funds. |
