Editing a Transaction

Bulk Edit feature lets you make changes to several transactions at one time.

From the Activities page, found in the Contacts & Activities section, the first thing you'll need to do is apply a filter. You will then see a Bulk Edit button in the right sidebar. You can also bulk edit contact profile information from the Contacts page.

Note: To apply a change to all your transactions, you could use the "Before Date" filter with tomorrow's date.

After clicking the Bulk Edit button, a modal window will open. From here, you can choose which field to update.

In this example, there are three fields you can edit en masse. These fields are Acknowledged, Campaign, and Non-tax deductible amount

Common Scenarios

- If you import a pile of transactions that have already been thanked, you might want to change them to Acknowledged: Yes (from the resulting "Acknowledged" drop-down field).

- If you're using Stripe Create or our Square integration, all transactions come into a single campaign. You can use this tool to reassign those to a different campaign (from the resulting "Campaign" drop-down field). You can also further assign these to a crowdfunding campaign and a team member (from the resulting "Cause" and "Team Member" drop-down fields).

- If you collected a bunch of donations for an event and decided to provide a free T-shirt (worth $10) to all who donated, you could mark the $10 amount as non-tax deductible for a group of transactions (from the resulting "Non-tax deductible amount" drop-down field).

- If you would like to merge funds, you can follow this path. There is not a direct "merge funds" option like there is with Campaigns, but if you would like to do this, follow these steps. A common scenario is you have two "General" Funds. We advise changing the name of one of these duplicate funds so they are not identical. Then, on the Activities page, filter using "By Fund" with the "General" fund you'd like to eliminate. You'll see all matching activities appear, and the you can click Bulk Edit in the right-hand sidebar. Choose "Fund" as the option you'd like to edit, and move these activities to the correct fund.
