GoFundMe Charity: Overview, Connecting, & Viewing

Crowdrise was acquired by GoFundMe.

Your Crowdrise campaigns are now known as GoFundMe Charity campaigns now.

This article explains connection and viewing details for the GoFundMe Charity integration. Structure for this article is as follows: what types of data can be synced to Kindful, connecting GoFundMe Charity to Kindful, viewing GoFundMe Charity data in Kindful.

Overview

GoFundMe Charity features don't directly coincide with Kindful's, so some features within GoFundMe Charity don't directly equate to those in Kindful. The way these are imported and mapped is outlined later on in this article.

Below are the types of records that Kindful can import from GoFundMe Charity:

  • Events
  • Teams/Fundraisers
  • Team Members – name only
  • Transactions with transaction comments (imported as a note on that transaction)
  • Donors – email, address, and phone (if available)

Finally, only Charity GoFundMe Charity accounts work for this integration. Individual or Donor accounts will not work.

Important to understand before pressing save

With a GoFundMe Charity Charity account, you can receive donations in 3 ways:

  • Donations made directly to your charity.
  • Donations made to independent Teams, not associated with an Event.
  • Donations made to Teams associated with an Event.

When connected, the Kindful-GoFundMe Charity integration will create new Campaigns. You will assign these Campaigns to the Fund of your choice.

EVENT TRANSACTIONS

Any Event transactions go to a newly created Campaign called GoFundMe Charity Event: [Event Name] so you can easily find transactions that are made to a GoFundMe Charity Event.

If your account has transactions from teams that belong to an Event on GoFundMe Charity, they'll be imported to a newly created Campaign called GoFundMe Charity Event: [Event Name] where [Event Name] is the name of the Event.

For example: If you have an Event on GoFundMe Charity, titled 5K for Hope with teams and transactions, Kindful will create a Campaign titled, GoFundMe Charity Event: 5K for Hope.

If there are no transactions that belong to an Event, this Campaign is not created. If there are multiple Events, Kindful will create multiple Campaigns in Kindful (one campaign per Event).

These Event Campaigns will belong to the Fund you select in the GoFundMe Charity Settings.

INDEPENDENT TEAM TRANSACTIONS

All non-Event Team transactions will go to a newly created Campaign called GoFundMe Charity: Independent Teams so you can easily find transactions from a Team, separate from an Event. If transactions are imported but do not belong to an independent team, the campaign is not created.

This Campaign will belong to the Fund selected in GoFundMe Charity Settings.

DIRECT-TO-CHARITY TRANSACTIONS

All non-Event, non-Team transactions will go to a newly created Campaign called GoFundMe Charity: Direct-to-Charity Transactions so you can easily find transactions that were made directly to your charity on GoFundMe Charity.

If your GoFundMe Charity account has transactions that are made directly to your Charity on GoFundMe Charity and not through a Team, they are imported to a newly created Campaign called GoFundMe Charity: Direct-to-Charity Transactions.

This Campaign will belong to the Fund selected in GoFundMe Charity Settings.

Ready to press "Save"

Once you click Save, it will take some time for Kindful to pull in your data if the Import History option is selected. You'll eventually see GoFundMe Charity Contacts & Transactions in the Contacts and Activities sections of Kindful.

After this, new transactions and contacts will sync every hour.
